Carnegie Museum of Natural History will present a special exhibit, “Fascinating Fakes,” through Sunday in the Hillman Hall of Minerals and Gems. The exhibit showcases specimens that have been embellished to increase value, altered to look like a more valuable piece and examples of some specimens with questionable authenticity. The exhibit is free with museum admission. “Fascinating Fakes” can be enjoyed Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays until 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $5 for children ages 3 to 18 and full-time students with ID. The Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society in Harrison will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will be an opportunity to buy holiday gifts such as books, prints and pottery along with miniature soldiers, puzzles and coloring books. Hoe-down round & square dancing, slow dancing, polkas, line dancing and clogging will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. today at the Waynesburg Moose Lodge and 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ohiopyle Community Center. The donation is $4 per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Music and figure calling is provided by The Dave Dahl Trio.
The 17th annual Christmas in the Village will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Spruce Forest Artisan Village, which is located on Old National Road and adjacent to the 1813 Casselman Bridge and the former Little Crossings Inn stagecoach stop now known as the Penn Alps Restaurant & Crafts Chop. Admission to the festival is free. The event will feature handcrafted artwork such as heirloom teddy bears, stained glass, ironwork, pottery, baskets, slate paintings, bird sculpture and handwoven goods.
