Pittsburgh art show to feature angels, other creatures
PITTSBURGH – The Three Rivers Arts Festival and First Night Pittsburgh present “Angels and Other Creatures,” an installation by artist Cheryl Capezzuti featuring her large-scale sculptures in the Three Rivers Arts Festival Gallery located at 707 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh. The show runs today through Feb. 14 and is free and open to the public. The exhibition opens today with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., featuring improvisational music by Capezzuti’s collaborator, Lisa Miles.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment on Saturdays.
“Angels and Other Creatures” is an evolving exhibition. It grows as Capezzuti and Pittsburgh communities create new creatures and integrate them into the installation. First Night Pittsburgh will celebrate and showcase this community project with the artist on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 5 p.m. to midnight as part of its 2002 program.
Capezzuti is a visual artist best known for “Lint in the Laundromat,” a community-interactive project that includes installations, performances and art classes at Duds ‘N Suds, a working Pittsburgh laundry.
The Three Rivers Arts Festival is a 44-year-old tradition that bridges artistic style and expression, mixing the contemporary visual arts with live music, theater and dance
