Santa to greet children during Kids Zoofari
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium will offer its annual Indoor Kids Zoofari Saturday through Friday, Jan. 3. Kids age 13 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult. On weekends from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., visitors will witness animals being presented with special treats that encourage them to hunt and problem solve.
They will observe activities such as the orangutans having a bubble bath and lions opening Christmas boxes full of treats. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. on weekends, visitors can make snow cones for the small primates and even build their own bird feeder to take home.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will meet with kids at the Kid’s Kingdom Discovery Pavilion from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
All that is required is a Christmas list and your camera.
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the zoo will hold its first annual New Year’s Eve celebration sponsored by Radio Disney and Spitzer Toyota.
Partygoers will watch the ball drop, ring in the New Year with cool games and prizes and build a time capsule. The whole family is invited. All activities are free of charge.
