West Virginia Public Theatre’s “Footloose” cast will perform selections from the musical from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Storey Square Summer Lunch Series in Uniontown. Lil Red Riding Hood cafe and latte express will provide lunch. Lunch and beverage will be available for less than $5.
Karen Bennett-Jackson of Uniontown will present a patriotic solo performance of “God Bless America” at the Lodge at Chalk Hill at 5:30 p.m. today for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the congregation of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Uniontown. She will also perform “America the Beautiful” at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue, which is located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Uniontown.

The Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival announces the Youth Art Contest and the Youth Poetry & Short Story Contest for 2002 will be held during the 28th annual festival, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sunday at Twin Lakes Park in Greensburg. The theme for this year’s art contest is “Heroes.” Participants can submit artwork of the women or men who have made a difference in their life. Cash prizes will be awarded in each category. Hoe-down round and square dancing, slow dancing, line dancing and clogging will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. today at the Waynesburg Moose and 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ohiopyle Community Center. The donation is $4 per person.
Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Music and figure calling will be presented by the Dave Dahl Trio.
