Steel City Quartet to perform at fair
DUNBAR TWP. – Steel City Quartet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the Fiddlers’ Building during the Fayette County Fair. The band will play gospel music as well as 12 original songs from The Platters, a well-known band from the 1950s.
Since 1983, the Steel City Quartet has been touching the lives of listeners in more than 2,700 different churches, fairs, banquets and auditoriums throughout the tri-state area.
The Steel City Quartet plays traditional, Southern gospel, country and oldies since the release of their 18th album entitled “Fabulous Fifties Gospel,” which has been aired on nationwide television and also on the Internet.
In a press release, band members said that their new sound has been receiving attention from all over the nation. Their popularity continues to grow, and the demand for their ministry increases, band members said.
Members of the Steel City Quartet include John “Legs” Lawrenzi of Sutersville, manager and singing tenor; Chuck Johnson of Brownsville, singing lead, baritone and spokesman for the group; and Dara Johnson, his wife, who sings lead and alto. Completing the group is sound technician Barbara Yurasek from Johnstown.
