“Evening on the Sunmit: Lackawanna Longnecks – Appalachian Music of the Alleghenies” will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, 110 Federal Park Road, Gallitzin. The Pittsburgh-based, old-time string band will play and sing songs of the Allegeny region. Admission is $2 for anyone 17 and older and free to children 16 and under.

Hoe-down round and square dancing, slow dancing, line dancing and clogging will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. today at the Waynesburg Moose Lodge in Waynesburg and 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ohiopyle Community Center in Ohiopyle. Music and figure calling will be provided by Dave Dahl.
The donation is $4 per person. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
Washington County Frontier Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Hughes Covered Bridge in Amwell Township. Visitors will have a chance to experience life on the frontier through the eyes of soldiers, native-Americans and civilian re-enactors in period dress.
Presented by the Washington County Historical Society and the Bradford House Association, the two-day event will be packed with activities, presentations and demonstrations. A children’s camp will be held at 10:30 a.m. Skirmishes will be featured at 1 and 4 p.m. Free admission is offered. For more information, call the Washington County Historical Society at 724-225-6740.
