Uniontown Library plans reading event”Spotlight on Reading: Be a Star @ Your Library” is the theme for this year’s summer reading program and special activity days for children at the Uniontown Public Library.

Parents or guardians can register children to attend the special events during regular library hours in the Children’s Room on the second floor of the library. All events will be held on Wednesdays in July beginning at 11 a.m. A snack will be provided. There is no cost to attend any of the events. This summer’s entertainment includes “We’re Holdin’ Puppets” on July 10; “Main street Music: Music Around the World” on July 17; Kevin Hurley’s Magic Show on July 24; and “Carnegie Science Center: Body Fuel Challenge” on July 31.

The Friends of the Library will sponsor a Scholastic Book Fair, which will be open on July 10 and 17 and continuously from July 22 through 31 during regular library hours.

Children who register for and complete the Summer Reading Club sponsored by the library can earn $10 in free books from the book fair. Younger children can earn $5 worth of free books through the Read-to-Me-Club. Registration and information for the reading clubs is available in the Children’s Room.A special kick-off event for the whole family will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 in the Children’s Library. Storytelling, book talks, drawings for free books, and visits from well-known storybook characters will be among the featured activities. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open for the whole day.
