Timm Biery & Friends will perform tonight from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Falls City Pub in Ohiopyle. The band plays a mix of blues, rhythm & blues and blues-based rock. Biery is a world-class drummer with artists such as Mahogany Rush, Deanna Bogart, Cory Hart, Paul Reed Smith and the late Danny Gatton. He is currently on hiatus with the Nils Lofgren Band. Other members of the band are Jerry Onesi on bass guitar and vocals, Paulette Schulze on vocals and Eric Schulze on guitar.

The Independence Day Celebration & Cookoff, featuring a fireworks display, a rib and wing competition, children’s activities and musical entertainment, will be held on Sunday at the Uniontown Mall. Carmichaels Senior Center will sponsor a dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. today. Music will be provided by The Best of Times. Admission is $5 per person. The public is invited.
Dutch Treat, a barbershop quartet, will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today during the Storey Square Summer Lunch Series in Uniontown. Lunch will be provided by Becker’s Shadyside Inn of Uniontown. The event will be held in Storey Square between the State Theatre and the Murphy building on Main Street in Uniontown. In case of inclement weather, the State Theatre Lobby is the alternate venue. Lunch and beverage will be available for less than $10.
West Overton Museums in Scottdale is now accepting entries for its 2002 Quilter’s Competition entitled “A Southwestern Pennsylvania Exhibition,” which will be held through Sunday. The show features professional judging and prizes in six quilt catergories, including pieced, applique, other techniques, collaborative, wearable quilting art and challenge quilt contest. Monetary prizes will be awarded for best of show, first, second and third place, people’s choice and best embellished embroidered item. Quilts will go on full display in the museum’s distillery building for the duration of the show.
