AAFC to present show SCOTTDALE – Actors and Artists of Fayette County will present E.B. White’s classic children’s story, “Charlotte’s Web,” on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12, at Scottdale Showtime Theatre.
Tourism events slated
LIGONIER – The 19th annual National Tourism Week has been slated for Sunday through Saturday, May 11. Special events will be held in conjunction with the celebration across the nation, across the state and in the Laurel Highlands.
The Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the Cambria County/Greater Johnstown Convention & Visitors Bureau and several area Chamber of Commerce offices, will host the second annual “Celebration of Tourism” mixer on Thursday. The event will be held at Seven Springs Mountain Resort from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This networking event will celebrate the positive impact of the tourism industry in the Laurel Highlands. It will feature various tourism exhibits, showcasing the region’s attractions, amusements, historic sites, recreational outlets, accommodations and dining facilities. Those attending will enjoy tourism hospitality with refreshments and door prize raffles throughout the evening. Members of the bureaus, chambers, students pursuing tourism and hospitality-related careers and interested members of the general public are invited to attend. Admission is free.
The Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau will launch “Laurel Highlands University” on Wednesday, a continuing education program designed by the Laurel Highlands Educational Foundation.
Its purpose is to provide training and motivation to tourism employees. The program includes three seminars and interactive workshops, a Backyard “familiarization” tour and graduation ceremonies. Contact the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau office at 724-238-5661.
