Johnny Angel & the Halos to bring oldies show to Hiller
HILLER – Johnny Angel & the Halos, Pittsburgh’s oldies show band, will play during an oldies dance on Saturday, May 11, from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Hiller Fire Co. Social Hall in Hiller. The event sponsored by Hiller Volunteer Fire Co. and Brownsville Masonic Lodge 60 F&AM will feature a cash bar and food. Admission is $20 per person and includes two shows and a D.J. Tickets are available at Brownsville Ace Hardware and Hiller Volunteer Fire Co.
Johnny Angel and the Halos are made up of 11 entertainers. The band portion of the group has three front lead singers, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, saxophone and drums. The technical portion of the band has a sound engineer, monitor engineer and lighting engineer.
The band has been known to carry as many as 14 members, depending on the avenue and need for additional horns.
Johnny Angel & the Halos perform songs from the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s with the dance crazes from those time periods and the familiar sing-a-long songs.
Band members include Jack “Johnny Angel” Hunt on lead and background vocals, drums and percussion; Gary “Bubba” Daley on lead and background vocals and keyboards; Al “K.C.” Lipp on lead and rhythm guitars and vocals; Paul “Jibbo” Labas on piano, organ, lead and background vocals; Glen “Zoot” Quarrie on saxophones (tenor, baritone and alto) and background vocals; Bob “Taz” Maraccini on drums and vocals; Chris “Skippy” Murphy on lead and background vocals; Mark “Spike” Dombeck on bass guitar and vocals; Justin “Jay” Hunt, sound engineer; Wil “Sponge” Rennebeck, monitor engineer; and Jim “Big Jim” Pierce, lighting engineer and road manager.
