Perry Players Theatre Group is ‘Going Ape’

1 min read

PERRYOPOLIS – The Perry Players Theatre Group hopes that everyone in Perryopolis will come out Saturday and Sunday to enjoy the hilarious farce, “Going Ape,” at the First Christian Family Life Center in Perryopolis. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be available at intermission.

The farce has some serious undertones. Rupert, played by Frank Novotny, an idealistic and romantic orphan, has come to his uncle’s house to commit suicide. This proves to be no easy matter. For one thing, he is constantly attended by his uncle’s attractive nurse/secretary, Miss Deaton, who is played by Judy Keating.

He is also constantly interrupted by a stream of visitors, including Joanne Cushman, Wanda Welling, Ron Humbert and Ron Lombard. Rupert realizes that all of the visitors are the same people, and his attention is drawn toward understanding the unusual Victorian plot in which he is trapped.

In a startlingly theatrical climax, he begins to understand what life is all about.

The play is directed by Adrienne Dzurko and set by Raul Lopez. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors age 65 and older.
