Uniontown woman to sing at fashion show
FOX CHAPEL – Karen Bennett-Jackson, a classical mezzo soprano singer from Uniontown, will perform on Saturday when the Pittsburgh Urban League Guild will present a Gala Hero Awards Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Fox Chapel Yacht Club in Fox Chapel. Tickets are $30 each at the door for the event.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bennett-Jackson will open the ceremony with the “National Anthem” and perform special music for the award presentations.
A fashion show, featuring Pittsburgh celebrities, will close the event.
Bennett-Jackson studied voice and theater arts at the Boston Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass., and at West Virginia University.
She studied piano under her mother, Mary Lockette-Bennett.
Her singing career spans an array of numerous performances and awards.
She has performed on stage at Heinz Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and conductor Marvin Hamlisch in “Search for A Star.”
Bennett-Jackson has appeared on KDKA Television, WTAE Television, Cornerstone Television and Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. She has also performed for the Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital Telethon, Nemacolin Woodlands, the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Uniontown, Linden Hall Mansion and numerous church and political events as well as a concert performance at The Carnegie.
