Historic Hanna’s Town to host Colonial Court Days in June
GREENSBURG – The Westmoreland County Historical Society will hold the third annual Colonial Court Days at historic Hanna’s Town on Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16. Court will be in session with mock trials, which are based on the actual 18th entury cases from the court dockets of Westmoreland County’s first seat of Justice. This educational event will feature programs by Faire Wynds, an 18th century entertainment troupe; and the Country Dance and Song Society of Pittsburgh, which will hold dance workshops on Saturday in preparation for an evening ball.
The Brigade of the American Revolution, an encampment of nearly 100 costumed men, women and children, will be on the site to demonstrate the military presence in local frontier communities.
There will also be an exhibit of frontier art from Houston Art and Frame, featuring artwork by Lee Teeter, John Buxton and Robert Griffing.
The historic site’s reconstructed buildings and fort will be open throughout the weekend. Hanna’s Town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The site will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The admission fee is $5 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12. For information, call 724-836-1800.
