Bullskin Township plans community days this weekend
BULLSKIN TWP. – Bullskin Township Community Days will be held from 11 a.m. until dark Saturday and Sunday at the Wooddale Fairgrounds, which is located along Route 982. The event will be held in conjunction with the Bullskin Lions’ Club Strawberry Festival, which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Free admission and parking will be provided.
A welcome and information booth will be sponsored by the Bullskin Township Historical Society. The event will feature a silent auction with three theme baskets; Billy the Bull, local Boy Scouts dressed in a bull costume; a brief history of Bullskin civic groups; and art and craft exhibits.
Victoria McQuillis will play the hammered dulcimer on Saturday.
The arts and crafts booths that will be featured include:
n Bobbi Kramer of Laurel Mountain Old-Fashioned Soaps.
n Deluca Leather Crafts.
n Linda Metzer, handmade sterling silver and gemstones.
n Karen Bergman, teddy bears, wreaths, pillows and wedding albums.
n Bullskin Township Lioness Club, rice bags and knives.
n John H. Evans, wickless, no-burn candles.
n Herbert P. Coleman, wheelbarrows, birdhouses and children’s rockers.
n Janet L. Sterner, longaberger baskets and pottery.
The Laurel Art Club will present original works by club members for show and sale. All of the works have been created by local artists.
Food booths will be sponsored by the Bullskin Township Lions Club, Bullskin Township Historical Society, Pleasant Valley Grange Hall, Bullskin Senior Citizens, Paradise United Methodist Church, Cub Scout Pack 164 and Pleasant Valley Lions Club.

Saturday
n 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., The South Crew Orchestra with Dennis Ozzello and Tom Pipak.
n 1:30 to 3 p.m., Bill Springer and The Springtime Hill Barn Band playing old-style bluegrass.
n 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., LIVE puppets and face painting by the Pennsville Baptist Church Youth Group.
n 5 to 7 p.m., Bluegrass Evolution, playing new-style bluegrass.
n 7 p.m., Bullskin Township Fire Department rescue demonstration.
Sunday
n 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., The Sound Crew Orchestra with Dennis Ozzello and Tom Pipak.
n 1 to 2 p.m., Jim Sterner’s Wash-House Band playing traditional and bluegrass music.
n 2 to 3 p.m., Pedal Tractor Pull ages 4 to 12 sponsored by the Bullskin Township Fair Board.
n 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Jim Sterner’s Wash-House Band.
n 4:30 p.m., Strawberry Dessert Contest sponsored by Thelma Hoke Insurance Agency and Kathy’s Kountry Floral. Winners will be announced.
n 5 to 6 p.m., RCS playing country/gospel music.
n 6 p.m., Vesper Service, outdoors. Participants will include the Rev. Geary Witt, presiding over the service, pastor of Wooddale Bible Brethren Church; the Rev. Dr. Bruce Storms, prayer and vocal solo, pastor of Mount Oliver Evangelical Church; and the Rev. Douglas Burns, scripture, pastor of the Paradise United Methodist Church; the Rev. Terry L. Guiste, circuit rider preacher, executive director of the Connellsville Area Community Ministeries; Linda Rose, accompanist; Paulette Guiste, song leader; Kourtney Zufall, vocal solo; Andrea Ansell, instrumentalist; David Martin, vocal soloist; and the Wooddale Bible Brethren Church Choir.
n 7:30 p.m., The Bullskiners, hometown bluegrass band.
