Gospel group to perform at local church

LEMONT FURANCE – The Isaacs, a family group based out of LaFollette, Tenn., that has won numerous southern gospel and bluegrass awards, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Cove Run Free Methodist Church, which is located along Yauger Hollow Road in Lemont Furnace. The Isaacs have appeared on several Bill Gaither tapings and concert series.

They have been special guests on CBS Television’s “Opryland Country Christmas.”

The band has also made numerous appearances on the Grand Ole’ Opry and received a Grammy-award nomination for “Gospel Gathering.”

The band has won many awards, including the 1999 Dove Award nomination for “Increase My Faith,” for bluegrass gospel album of the year; the 1998 Dove Award for “Bridges,” the bluegrass gospel album of the year; and the 1998 Dove award nomination for “Man on the Mule,” bluegrass song of the year.

The Isaacs feature Lily Fishman Isaacs, vocalist and mother who was born in Germany after World War II. Other band members are Ben Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs Surrett, Rebecca Isaacs Bowman, John Bowman, an accomplished musician and singer and Tim Surrett.
