Abe Lincoln re-enactor to perform in Greensburg
GREENSBURG – Jim Getty, America’s foremost Abraham Lincoln re-enactor, will join the Westmoreland County Historical Society for “An Evening with Abraham Lincoln,” a special reception and lecture in Smith Hall Dining Suite at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The event will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when visitors will have a chance to meet “Honest Abe” while enjoying the hot and cold hors d’oeurves and cocktails that will be served at the reception, which begins at 6 p.m. Musician Chuck Krepley provide Civil War era music. The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Theater. A special admission package for the reception and the lecture is $15 for members and students and $20 for non-members. To attend only the lecture, the admission is $5 for members, $8 for non-members and $3 for students under the age of 12.
Gerry has a master of music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. He taught high school choral music in St. Charles and Naperville, Ill., and Sandusky, Ohio, and was director of choral activities at the University of Maine.
A member of the National Speakers Association, Getty speaks in many schools and colleges, as well as for conventions and business meetings. His voice is that of President Lincoln in the A&E programs “Abraham Lincoln: A Biography” and “The Assassination of President Lincoln.” He also portrays the president in the Turner television film, “The Ironclads.”
