Trinity church to feature Winkler family during recital
For the fourth year, the Recital Series of Trinity United Presbyterian Church will feature a return performance by the John Winkler Family of Morgantown, W.Va., at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1. This multi-talented family performs a wonderful medley of holiday music that will be certain to please the audience, no matter what age. The program will feature trumpet, piano, vocal and cello.
Dr. John Winkler has been on the music faculty at West Virginia University since 1982. He is principal trumpet of the Wheeling Symphony and performs regularly with the Pittsburgh Symphony, including its European Tour in May 2000. He is active in the West Virginia and Pittsburgh area as a free-lance trumpeter.
His wife, Kathy, received piano degrees from Wheaton College and Northwestern University, and has been active accompanist both regionally and at the national level. She has maintained one of the most active piano studios in Morgantown.
Chad Winkler has recently completed graduate study in trumpet performance at Duquesne University after finishing his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University.
He is a regular member of the Wheeling Symphony and the Erie Philharmonic orchestras and plays extra with the Pittsburgh Symphony. Winkler has won numerous awards as a soloist, including high school, collegiate and master divisions of the National Trumpet Competition in Washington D.C.
Jordan Winkler is a junior trumpet major at West Virginia University, where he studies with his father, Dr. John Winkler, and is currently a member of the WVU Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
Tyler Winkler is an 11th grade student and studies piano with his mother.
Jocelyn, their daughter who has performed with the family the past three years, will not be part of the program because of graduate study in Texas. However, two new additions to the program will be vocalist Elissa Begin and cellist Biljana Bozinovska.

A free-will offering will be received to further the Trinity Recital Series. The church is located on the corner of Morgantown and West Fayette streets, Uniontown, with parking available on the lots across the street.
