BARC to launch gift-giving campaign

1 min read

BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Area Revitalization Corporation (BARC) have begun a gift-giving campaign for the children of the soldiers who are stationed abroad. BARC is launching the campaign in conjunction with the local Brownsville churches, Brownsville Rotary Club, Brownsville Chamber of Commerce, the Brownsville Herald-Standard office and the Brownsville Mayor’s office.

“Soldiers of One” is a program that was started to recognize all members of the military branches of service, which are United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserves.

During the soldiers’ deployment, the Brownsville community wants to show its support to the family members that remain behind. Gifts will be collected for distribution to the soldiers’ children at various sites.

Anyone who knows of any children whose parent or parents are overseas at this time is asked to inform BARC of the child’s name, age (birth to 8 years of age) and address so that these children will not be left out.

For more information, contact the Flatiron Building at 724-785-9331 and the mayor’s office at 724-785-3363. Gift items must be received by Friday, Dec. 20.
