Nemacolin Woodlands to light up for holidays
FARMINGTON – The Pittsburgh Symphony Brass will perform at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa near Farmington at 8:30 p.m. today. The performance is part of the resort’s annual Light Up Night festivities. The ensemble will entertain the audience with music from its latest recording, “A Christmas Concert.”
George Vosburgh organized the Pittsburgh Symphony Brass in 1994 with an emphasis on featuring some of the world’s finest orchestral brass musicians playing in chamber ensemble, according to Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts. The result has been a unique blend of virtuosity with brilliant sonority usually associated with orchestral brass. The ensemble, all of whom are members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, consists of Vosburgh, trumpet; Neal Berntsen, trumpet; William Calballero, French horn; Peter Sullivan, trombone; Murray Crewe, brass trombone; and Sumner Erickson, tuba.
Tickets for the performance are $15 per person for ages 12 and up. Children ages 11 and under are admitted free. To purchase tickets, call Nemacolin Woodlands at 724-329-8555. Tickets will be available at the door. Light Up Night festivities at Nemacolin Woodlands begin at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include performances by local children’s choirs and the arrival of Santa Claus.
