Greene County museum to celebrate fall harvest
WAYNESBURG – A two-day celebration of the fall harvest will be celebrated at the Greene County Historical Museum near Waynesburg from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Area crafters and artisans will demonstrate and sell their wares across the museum grounds. The variety of traditional crafts will include wooden furniture and accessories, handmade baskets, soaps, pottery, candles, dried flowers and herbs, jams and jellies, seasonal items, homespun woolen items and much more.
Soup, beans and cornbread and fresh grilled sandwiches will be available as well as snacks including Kettle Korn, pumpkin pie fudge, cider, shaved ice and chocolate-covered pretzels.
The local 140th Pennsylvania Volunteers will host a Civil War history encampment and conduct authentic skirmishes both days at 3 p.m.
Demonstrations and exhibits will include an on-site archaeological excavation dig demonstrating tools and methods used for actual excavations; coal mining display of the private collection of Brice and Linda Rush; the W&W narrow gauge steam locomotive; and special exhibits on display in the museum.
Entertainment will be held in the museum barn. Saturday’s entertainment will include the local Greene Academy Dulcimer Players at 2 p.m., Ghost Stories with Kris Valentine at 1 p.m. Western Line Dancing at 4 p.m.
On Saturday at noon and Sunday at 12:30 p.m., “The Scarecrow” and Mr. Brown will entertain with fun antics, magic and storytelling.
Sunday’s entertainment will include Frank and Lisa Pazzynski at 2 p.m. and Bob Dunlap and the Blue Mountain Cloggers at 4 p.m.
The museum is located at 918 Rolling Meadows Road, which is about three miles east of Waynesburg.
