Japanese pianist to perform in Latrobe
LATROBE – The dazzling Japanese pianist Yoshikazu Nagai makes his second appearance on the St. Vincent College Concert Series at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Science Center Amphitheatre of St. Vincent College in Latrobe. Admission to the concert is $17. A Classic Evening at Saint Vincent, a sit-down dinner at 6 p.m. and a standout concert at 8 p.m., is available at $26 per person.
Nagai will perform Scarlatti’s “Three Sonatas;” Beethoven’s “Bagatelles, Op. 126;” Rachmaninoff’s “Etude – Tableaux in F-sharp Minor” and “Etude Tableaux in E-flat Minor;” and Schubert’s “Impromptu in B-flat Major;” and Liszt’s “Mephisto Waltz No. 1.”
Nagai’s accolades include first place at the 2002 Washington International Piano Competition, plus top prizes at the 2001 Concert Artists and 2000 Missouri Southern Competitions.
Nagai is the recipient of the inaugural St. Vincent College Performance Prize of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition held in New York City.
Remaining concerts in the series are Volkan Orhon, double bass, Nov. 23; “Handel’s Messiah, The Complete Oratorio,” Dec. 7; Nanae Mimura, marimba, Jan. 18; Kangho Lee, cello, Feb. 15; Yin Cheng Zong, piano, March 29; and Trio Johannes, April 26.
