The Timm Biery Band will perform from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Highland House on West Main Street, Uniontown.

The band plays a mix of blues, rhythm & blues and blues-based rock. Biery is a world-class drummer, who has toured with such artists as Mahogany Rush, Deanna Bogart, Cory Hart, Paul Reed Smith and the late Danny Gatton. He is currently on hiatus with the Nils Nofgren Band. Other band members are Jerry Onesi on bass guitar and vocals, Paulette Schulze on vocals and Eric Schulze on guitar.

The 50th anniversary of the Farmers’ and Threshermen’s Jubilee will be held through Sunday at New Centerville in Somerset County. Held each year the weekend after Labor Day, the jubilee recreates harvest time with demonstrations of threshing, cider pressing and log sawing. The event will also feature live country and blue grass music, square dancing, tractor and truck pulling and horseshoe pitching. The jubilee is located off the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Exit 10 and nine miles south of Somerset on Route 281.

The annual Ligonier Highland Games will get under way at Idlewild Park on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. and running until 6 p.m. This Scottish festival annually draws thousands of Scots and non-Scots alike for one of the most colorful and musical events in western Pennsylvania. Activities will be offered for the entire family. Idlewild Park is closed except for the Scottish games on Saturday. Admission to the games is $12 for adults, $5 for children to age 12 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Parking is also free. Calvary Chapel of Fredericktown will host a festival from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature several Christian bands, food and numerous children’s activities, including a Velcro wall, a 26-foot climbing mountain, bungee run, 20-foot slide and obstacle course. Professional illusionist Dennis Bech will perform two 90-minte shows at 3 and 7:30 p.m. All day admission is $5. Calvary Chapel is located on Route 88 next to the Fredericktown Butcher Shop. The Somerset Historical Center will host the 33rd annual Mountain Craft Days folk festival today through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. More than 125 craft artisans, musicians and entertainers will be on hand to interpret the rich frontier heritage of southwestern Pennsylvania. Mountain Craft Days is sponsored by the Historical and Genealogical Society of Somerset County and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. General admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 6 to 17 and free of charge for children under 5. People with disabilities who need special assistance or accommodation should call 814-445-6077 in advance to discuss their needs.

St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Crucible will hold its annual festival from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Ethnic food will be served in the church basement from noon to 4 p.m.

Music, children’s games and games of chance will be offered outdoors. Refreshments and food will be served.

The 17th annual Saxonburg Festival of the Arts will be held Saturday and Sunday in historic Saxonburg, which is located in southeastern Butler County. The event will feature exhibits and performances daily in Roebling Park and on Main Street. Times for the festival are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

There is no cost for admission to the festival, and parking is free. The event is sponsored by the Saxonburg Historical Restoration Commission.

Highlights for this year’s event include a performance titled “An American Tribute” by world famous mezzo-soprano Marianna Cornetti, featured artist Make Anderson, numerous craft exhibits, daily musical performances, a variety of ethnic foods, a kid’s corner, 5K race and community walk, historical tours, gas engine/antique tractor exhibits and an antique/custom/classic car show.
