Spirituals, gospel music to fill air in Connellsville
CONNELLSVILLE – Spirituals, gospel music and a brass ensemble are some of the musical sounds the public will hear on Friday, May 2, at the First Baptist Church in Connellsville. The Greater Uniontown Chorale will present an outreach concert there at 7 p.m. It is titled “Clap Your Hands… A Celebration!” and is sponsored by the Connellsville Mozart Music Club.
The 35-member voice chorale will be singing such numbers as “Amazing Grace,” “Fly Away Medley,” “My Lord, What a Mornin,'” “Then Will the Very Rocks Cry Out,” “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and more.
The chorale is directed by William Dreucci and accompanied at the piano by Joanna Ball.
Local music instructor, Chris Hornick, will lead a brass ensemble in special music. Besides Hornick, the other ensemble members will be Pat Stefano, Maureen Shirer, Paul Hammaker and Don Stoner.
Tickets are available at the following outlets: Atkins Music Center in Connellsville; Collections By Marty in Scottdale; Ellis’ Music Store in Uniontown; or at the door on the evening of the concert.
The church is located on the corner of South Pittsburgh Street and Wills Road near the Carnegie Library. It is handicapped accessible.
