local Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School Players will present “The Plight Before Christmas” tonight. The performance will be held at Trinity United Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. The program will include the Childrens Chorus and the Chancel Ringers from the Third Presbyterian Church. The Timm Biery Band will perform at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Uniontown Holiday Inn. The band plays a mix of blues, rhythm & blues and blues-based rock. Biery is a world-class drummer, who has toured with artists such as Mahogany Rush, Deanna Bogart, Cory Hart, Paul Reed Smith and the late Danny Gatton. He is currently on hiatus with the Nils Lofgren Band. Other members of the band include Jerry Onesi on bass guitar and vocals, Paulette Schulze on vocals and Eric Schulze on guitar.

The Kenny Mills Trio will perform in the lounge at Becker’s Shadyside Restaurant from 7 to 10 p.m. today. The Christian W. Klay Winery at 412 Fayette Springs Road, Chalk Hill, invites the public to its annual family open house from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The children can come and visit Santa in his workshop to receive a little surprise, tell him their wish list, pet live reindeer, drink hot cocoa, decorate a special cookie and make an ornament to take home. The adults can enjoy the ambience of the Christmas decorations while wine tasting, listening to the Greater Uniontown Childrens’ Chorus and nibbling appetizers from the buffet. The sixth annual “A Country in the Greenhouse” will be held today through Sunday in Duda’s Greenhouse in Republic. The show will feature crafts by more than 25 local crafters with plenty of choices for Christmas shopping. Live wreaths, swags and blankets will be sold by Duda’s Greenhouse. Historic holiday tours will be offered Saturday and Sunday at the Mount Washington Tavern. The cookies and cider will be out, the music will play and the candles will be lit from 2 to 5 p.m. both days. The event is sponsored the National Park Service and the National Road Heritage Corridor. The Mount Washington Tavern was a stagecoach stop during the heyday of the National Road.
