Local woman to exhibit artwork in Brownsville
BROWNSVILLE – Washington resident Judy Hopson crosses into Fayette County to exhibit her art at 64 Crayons Cultural Center, Thompson House, 815 Water St., Brownsville, for her third show there in as many years. Her latest offering, “Extravaganza!,” which remains on display through December, differs from Hopson’s earlier exhibits at that site in that it contains not only her popular pottery pieces, but also a wide selection of her paintings and prints. Hopson plans to offer a pottery demonstration at the site later this month followed by a series of workshops in January.
“Judy’s unique hand-built pottery arrives in Brownsville just in time for holiday shopping,” said business manager Bill Faust. “But all those people who purchased her work and made her show at 64 Crayons such a success last year are in for an added surprise when they see her paintings and prints, also at reasonable prices. This show will be a full blown Hopson extravaganza!”
The exhibition runs through the end of the holiday season. After that, Geezers Book Shop will continue to offer a selection of Hopson’s artwork for sale at the Thompson House throughout the year.
“I’ve always done well there,” Hopson said. “People from all over come to the restaurant for dinner, and when they tour the house, they see my work and like it.”
“We’ve had quite a few people express interest in doing workshops with Judy to learn her freehand style of pottery making,” said Fred Lapisardi, director for 64 Crayons Cultural Center and proprietor of Geezers’ Literary Book Shop. “Her creativity and technical skills draw constant comments from visitors. We’re currently looking at dates for a free public demonstration here at the Thompson House.”
