Trinity Recital Series to present Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols
The 2003 Trinity Recital Series will present an Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the candlelit historic sanctuary of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in downtown Uniontown. The church’s chancel and handball choirs and Trinity Singers under the direction of Jason J. Keefer will perform an inspirational montage of music ranging from the Renaissance through the contemporary interspersed with readings from the Christmas story.
Highlights will include an English hand bell rendition of “In the Bleak Midwinter,” Michael Haydn’s Christmas cantata “Run, Ye Shepherds, to the Light” and a liturgical dance to “Silent Night” presented by children and youth of the church. Organist Bruce Ludwick Jr., along with pianists Donnie Dennison and Todd Alexander, will serve as accompanists.
Guest instrumentalists from West Virginia University will include the William Skidmore String Trio; Dorothy Skidmore, flute; Lisa Hollar, oboe; sopranos Brenna Shultz and Joanie Brittingham; and mezzo soprano Shannon Pugh.
In lieu of admission, a free will offering will be received. Attendees are also invited to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Fayette County Food Bank. For more information, call the church at 724-437-2709.
