Spruce Forest seeks artists for events
GRANTSVILLE, Md. – Spruce Forest Artisan Village, located on the Old National Road just east of Grantsville in northern Garrett County, Md., is seeking artisans and demonstrators who are interested in renting spaces in the village during high-traffic weekends. The village is also adjacent to the Casselman Bridge and Penn Alps Restaurant and Crafts Shop.
Artisans would be required to submit an application and samples of their work for jurying by the Spruce Forest Artisans’ Build.
If approved, that artisan would select one of the following dates for demonstrations and sales: Saturday through Monday, May 24-26; Friday and Saturday, June 13-14; Friday through Sunday, July 4-6; Friday through Monday, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1; and Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11.
Juried artisans will pay a nominal booth fee upon approval, and all proceeds from his or her sales during those days belong to that artisan. Weekend artisans must be present and open for business from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day that they area at the village, and they must commit to the entire block of time listed. Artisans must also be willing to demonstrate their craft in addition to selling their works.
Shelves are provided by Spruce Forest and are included with the booth fee that is paid in advance. In case of inclement weather, artisans may move onto the Miller House porch or inside the Village Church. Fees are non-refundable to juried artisans once their days of appearance are confirmed with the village.
