Chalk Hill girl finds something to cheer about
Kira Sedlock, the daughter of Adam and Kathy Sedlock of Chalk Hill, really has something to cheer about. Sedlock was chosen to cheer at the Hula Bowl in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday, Feb. 1, as a member of the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) team.
The 57th annual Hula Bowl is a post-season game, where the nation’s top players and pro prospects will be featured. The NCA will perform during the halftime extravaganza.
Sedlock was chosen as an NCA All-American Team Member during the summer when she and her teammates at Uniontown Area Senior High School attended a National Cheerleaders Association Summer Camp.
The NCA awards all-American status to cheerleaders displaying superior qualities in all aspects of cheerleading, including leadership, showmanship and technique. The NCA recognizes individuals for outstanding accomplishments.
Sedlock has been working on her routines that will be performed during the halftime show by the NCA All-American team.
While in Hawaii, Sedlock will attend rehearsals every day prior to the All-Star Football Game during which she will have the opportunity to meet other cheerleaders and dancers from across the nation.
Along with her teammates, Sedlock will attend the Hula Bowl Maui All-Star Football Banquet, where she will have a chance to meet the nation’s top 90 players, coaches and football greats.
She will also participate in educational tours provided by the NCA throughout Maui and the Kaanapoli Beach area.
Sedlock is a sophomore at Uniontown Senior High School, where she is a junior varsity cheerleader.
She is also a member of the soccer team, swim team, ski club and other school activities.
A dancer at the Ginny Tanner Dance Studio in Uniontown for the past eight years, Sedlock also takes voice lessons at Cramer’s School for Performing Arts in Uniontown. She is the granddaughter of Herman and Sarah Reynolds of Fayette City and Elizabeth Sedlock of Perryopolis.
