‘CD Live’ showcases Pittsburgh musicians

2 min read

PITTSBURGH – The Three Rivers Arts Festival and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announce a new collaborative concert series “CD Live,” the Cultural District’s next generation of live music. “CD Live” widens the creative expression of the Pittsburgh music scene.

This collaboration of non-profit organizations formed to build new music audiences and to welcome these listeners to the cultural district.

The Benedum and Byham theaters provide musicians with the opportunity to perform in settings that are more advanced than most concert venues in Pittsburgh.

These settings match the musicians’ artistic talents and accommodate more people so that audiences can appreciate the full sound and experience of the performances.

“Based on the success of the festival’s summer concerts, we believe these concerts will fill an important gap in the Pittsburgh music scene beyond our June event,” said Elizabeth Reiss, executive director of the Three Rivers Arts Festival.

“We are proud to host the ‘CD Live’ series and the artists it represents. These concerts match the artistic quality of all of our presentations, and today’s music fans are welcomed to be part of the cultural district and all it has to offer,” said J. Kevin McMahon, president of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

“CD Live” began in November 2002 with the presentation of Steve Earle.

“CD Live” continues with The Indigo Girls on Feb. 17 and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones on March 31.
