Sounds of bluegrass, jazz music to fill the air in Connellsville
CONNELLSVILLE – The sounds of bluegrass and jazz music will once again fill the air as the local Lions Club prepares for its second annual summer concert series. “The concerts were very well-attended last year and we’re hoping that the same interest is still there,” said George Puskar, member of the Lions Club.
The concerts will be held at Lions Square along Crawford Avenue with seating available in the adjoining National City Bank parking lot.
There is no charge for the concerts.
The Irishtown Bluegrass Band will kick off the summer program on Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m.
“Come and bring your lawn chair and prepare to be entertained,” said Puskar.
Other scheduled groups include Pittsburgh blues legend Chizmo Charles on July 19, the Kendall Brothers on Aug. 10 and Connellsville’s own, Harold Betters, on Sept. 7.
While local businesses have assisted the Lions Club with the financial sponsorship of the concert series, Puskar said donations would be accepted to defray remaining costs.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.
“This will definitely be a great way to spend a Sunday evening,” said Puskar.
