PSO string quartet plays in Uniontown
A String Quartet Performance, featuring members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, was held earlier this week for fourth-grade students throughout Fayette County at the Uniontown High Senior School Auditorium. Communities in Schools in Fayette County’s Community Outreach Program sponsored the event, which has been held for the past seven years.
The musicians, who performed during the event, have an extensive musical background.
Sarah Clendenning joined the PSO violin section in the 1997-98 season. She currently holds the position of first violin.
Violinist Christopher Wu enjoys a diverse career as an orchestral and chamber musician teacher and soloist. He joined the first violin section of the Pittsburgh Symphony in 1988.
Violist Tatjana Mead Chamis has been a member of the PSO since 1993. She has been an active member of the chamber music scene in Pittsburgh.
She began her musical studies on the violin at age 7, switching to the viola at age 15, while studying in Salt Lake City with Mikhail Boguslavsky co-founder of the Moskow Chamber Orchestra.
She graduated in 1994 from the Curtis Institute of Music.
Cellist David Premo has held the position of associate principal cello since January 2000 after joining the symphony in 1992 and having been promoted to fourth chair in 1994.
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will return to Uniontown and the Laurel Highlands Auditorium at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 8, for its annual Summer’s Night Concert, which has become a tradition.
