Singers to perform at Trinity recital series

2 min read

The Roberts Wesleyan Chamber Singers will offer a sacred choral concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, as part of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church Recital Series. This is a select group of singers chosen from the Roberts Wesleyan Chorale.

Noted for its unique choral sounds and a tradition of excellence, the Roberts Wesleyan Chorale has gained wide acclaim from its recordings and appearances with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

The chorale has performed with the orchestra under the direction of David Zinman, Peter Bay, Mitch Miller, Make Elder, Robert Bernhardt, Christopher Seaman and Jeff Tyzik.

In March 1986, the chorale performed in New York City’s Carnegie Hall with the Westfield, N.J., Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s only opera, “Fidelio.” The chorale has also sung with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recordings of the chorale include Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” with the Rochestra Orchestra and “Sacred and Secular Music” by Anton Buckner.

Five compact disc recordings of American music have been released on the Albany label, including choral music of Roy Harris, music of Leo Sowerby, choral music of Randall Thompson and two CDs of the music of Stephen Shewan.

The church is located on the corner of Morgantown and West Fayette streets, Uniontown. Parking is available directly across the street from the church. A free will offering will be received to further the recital series. For more information, call the church at 724-437-2709.
