Historical group to present program
GREENSBURG – Dr. Frank A. Cassell, president of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, and James Steeley, executive director of the Westmoreland County Historical Society, will present a program on “Gen. Edward Braddock and His Road” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center. The two-part illustrated program will focus on the expedition’s passage through Westmoreland County during the week of July 2-9, 1755, to drive the French from Fort Duquesne, at present day Pittsburgh, in the opening phase of the French and Indian War.
A fresh interpretation of British Gen. Edward Braddock as man and soldier will be presented by Dr. Cassell.
Steeley will share his recent research, including new findings on the route taken by Braddock’s army through Westmoreland County.
A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.
