The Albert Gallatin High School Drama Department will close its 2002-2003 season with its dinner theater today. Myers’ Catering will serve a traditional wedding-style meal at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. At 7 p.m. in the auditorium, students will present selected skits from Carol Burnett’s television show. Tickets for the dinner and show are available from cast members, Jackie Davis, Jeanne Fike and Marianne Muzika, school secretary. Tickets for the show also may be purchased at the door.The Fabulous Superstars In Concert presented by the Westmoreland/Fayette Council of Boy Scouts of America will take place on Saturday at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion. The concert is a live tribute to music legends including Elvis, Dean Martin, John Lennon, Anne Murray and many others. Entertainment will feature look-alikes and sound-alikes performing the hits of the superstars live in concert. The event will feature a dinner at 7 p.m. followed by the live concert at 8:15 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall. Also, a special discounted add-on package will be available that includes an overnight stay at the Main Lodge on Saturday and the legendary Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday morning. Area 51, a local band playing new and classic rock, will appear from 9:30 p.m. Saturday to 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the Uniontown Holiday Inn. Band members are Jerry Onesi of Uniontown on bass guitar and vocals, Bob Mascia of Uniontown on drums and vocals, Jon Newman of Cumberland, Md., on guitar and Rodney Spiker of Salisburg on keyboards.The Frank L. Melega Art Museum will present Maria Louisa Calandra’s painting and mixed media exhibition “Excess” through Saturday. “A Fitting Time for Women,” a photo exhibit by Jim McNutt and Kathleen Mitchell, will open today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Greene County Museum.
The collection of historically accurate photographs shows the more intimate, touching and evocative sides of women’s lives through authentic scenes and clothing from 1875-1900.
The exhibit will run at the museum through June 6. The dance will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight with a snack buffet from 7 to 8 p.m. Door prizes will be awarded. Hoe-down square dancing, slow dancing, polkas, waltzing, line dancing and clogging will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ohiopyle Community Center. The Dave Dahl Orchestra will provide music and figure calling.
Fort Allen Antique Farm Equipment Association will hold several events on Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. until dark, there will be a blacksmith demonstration with blacksmiths from age 12 to 80. Many of the blacksmiths will be from the Pittsburgh Area Artist and Blacksmith Association. There will be an auction of hand-forged items at 1 p.m. No admission is charged. Sagebrush Round-Up on Bunner Ridge located just six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139 on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va., will feature Sammy Manno, Jim & I, Ruth Van Noy, Country Trio and the house band Stagecoach on Saturday. Country music begins at 6 p.m. with the open stage. Stagecoach backs single acts and new talent.
