Patriotric music event to honor armed services
Fayette County residents will have a chance to celebrate America and honor the men and women of the U.S. fighting forces in Iraq during a special Patriotic Musical Extravaganza. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Asbury United Methodist Church of Uniontown. Color Guards representing each branch of the armed forces will be on hand as the Greater Uniontown Chorale, Asbury Chancel Choir and area musical talent will present patriotic songs and hymns representative of American idols. The event will also recognize the men and women who bravely protect the nation’s freedoms at home and abroad, according to William Dreucci, director of the Greater Uniontown Chorale.
Organists Jason Keefer and Jim Hutchinson, along with pianists Bert Sesler, Kevin Milliken and Joanna Ball, will lead the choirs and audience in uplifting songs of patriotism and worship.
Ron Shroyer of Connellsville and Barb and Paul Cramer and Becky Johnson will lend their vocal talents to the evening’s musical offerings. The Rev. Bill Solomon will offer tributes and readings. Fayette County Commissioner Ronald Nehls will be the master of ceremonies. Information on returning armed services personnel would be greatly appreciated. Call 724-557-1119 and leave a message. The audience will have the opportunity to join in the singing of many well-known patriotic tunes and favorite hymns. The program is open to the public and a free will offering will be accepted. The doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Asbury Church is located at the corner of Beeson Avenue and Dunbar Street.
