Uniontown Children’s Choir to present its spring concert

2 min read

The Greater Uniontown Children’s Choir will present its annual spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Uniontown. Tickets will be available prior to the concert at the Dunbar Street entrance of the church.

The choir is under the direction of Marsha R. Brady of Connellsville. Kelley Bell is the accompanist for the group. The choir includes 18 students from the Fayette County area. The students range in age from 9 to 15.

The choir will perform selections that appeal to young and old alike, while presenting a wide variety of music from classical to secular. The choir traveled to Baltimore last year and attended the Children’s Chorus of Maryland Choir Festival at Goucher College. More than 15 choirs from three states attended. The festival was under the direction of Dr. Betty Bertaux.

The Greater Uniontown Chorale founded the choir in January 1998. The choir has recently performed at Nemacolin Woodlands, Nemacolin Castle and Christian Klay Winery.

Students from the Fayette County area, ranging in age 8 to 15, may audition for the choir. Members don’t have to be great singers, but they must enjoy singing.

The choir rehearses one day a week for two hours at Dunbar Borough Elementary School, which is located across from the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The choir will be accepting new members in September.
