Uniontown students to present one-act plays this weekend
The Uniontown Area High School will present one-act plays at 7:30 p.m. today in the Margaret A. Emelson Auditorium. Act One is a comedy-mystery titled “Murder by Bequest.” Anyone familiar with the writings of Agatha Christie will recognize the characters assembled for the reading of a will who are “bumped off” one by one.
The actors who are awaiting their demise include seniors Jayme Borris, Katie Coburn, Zack Coneybeer and Sara R. Howarth. Also in the production are juniors Talena Dotson, Nicole Layhue, Becky Rozak, Kira Sedlock and Jarel Settles. Freshman Emanuel Brosky rounds out the cast.
Act Two is a mini-musical titled “Unhappily Ever after.” As the plot unfolds, the audience discovers that many of the storybook characters known since childhood are seeking counseling to resolved marital problems.
Prince Charming would like to clean house by getting rid of Cinderella, her stepmother and stepsisters.
Prince Ling is creaming of awakening Sleeping Beauty by serving her with divorce papers. The Pond Princess is fed up with the Frog Princes because he still relishes an occasional fly.
In addition, Bo Peep still can’t find her sheep, but she may have found a beau in Rumplestiltskin. The Big Bad Wolf is constantly hounding Red Riding Hood, and a pesky spider continues to bug Miss Muffet.
Although Snow White is no longer cavorting with seven little men, she has tired of her raven tresses and decides to find out if blondes really do have more fun.
Seniors appearing in the production are Adam Lucidi, Mike Meucci and Nick Serra. Juniors in the cast include Katy Brittingham, Trey Brown, Alicia Capers, Caitlin Ewing, Kathleen Hudik, Alicia Omiros, Sara Peskie, Ashley Sellong and Amanda Workman.
Sophomore Emily Brower, Stephanie Clay, Ashley Crago, Arta Faye Hruby, Kelly Lloyd and Kelli Seliga also appear together with freshmen Michoia DeBerry, Marissa Dowling, Mindy Sellong, Nicole Young and Jordan Zeigler.
Ron Bronson is directing the production.
Kenneth Hager is serving as the production assistant.
Robert D. Caldwell is in charge of the stage crew.
