WPVT sets auditions for ‘Scrooge’ production
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) will hold an open casting call and audition for upcoming roles in “Scrooge, The Musical.” The auditions will be held at WVU’s Creative Arts Center from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9. “We have six roles open for adults, young adults and children,” said Ron Iannone, executive producer.
“And we want to give those people – the ones who watch shows like ‘American Idol’ and want to be on stage but wonder if they have the talent – an opportunity to test themselves and join in the spirit of musical theater,” he added. “No experience is necessary.”
Scouting for new talent has once again become an important mission for West Virginia Public Theatre. The public audition marks the revival of “WVPT’s Future Stars of Tomorrow” program.
Coordinated by professional teaching artist Cindy Timms Pulice, the “Future Stars of Tomorrow” program is committed to helping talented students develop the necessary skills to make them successful in professional theater.
The program will work to educate students in the performing arts, expose them to a wife variety of performing experiences and encourage in them attitudes and values that will help them effectively manage their careers, such as a strong work ethic and cooperative spirit.
Talented individuals ages 6 and older are encouraged to call Marla Freeman at 304-598-0144 to schedule an audition time for a role in “Scrooge, The Musical.”
All potential candidates must be willing and available to travel to Morgantown and Fairmont at the dates and times designated by the produced.
Any child seeking the opportunity to audition for the “Future Stars” program should schedule an audition time as well.
Children between the ages of 6 and 16 are eligible to apply, and they must be accompanied by a guardian when attending the audition.
