local Area 51, a local band that plays new and classic rock, will appear in the newly remodeled Harrigan’s Lounge at the Holiday Inn in Uniontown at 10 p.m. Saturday. Band members include Jerry Onesi of Uniontown on bass guitar and vocals, Bob Mascia of Uniontown on drums and vocals, Jon Newman of Salisbury on guitar and Jeff Morris of Pittsburgh on keyboards and vocals.A benefit for Noah Ranaldi, a 5-year-old boy who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, will be held on Sunday at The Tavern, 158 Hope Road, Smithfield. The Laurel Highlands Restaurant Association will hold its annual fund-raiser “Taste of the Laurel Highlands” from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa near Farmington. This year’s theme is a “Culinary Carnival.” The event will feature food sampling from participating area restaurants, a chef auction and entertainment. Participating restaurants will offer varied, unique samplings of their cuisine, and participants can eat and drink as much as they want. “The Undertones” of Greensburg will provide musical entertainment for the afternoon. Magician Bill Horner will entertain guests. The event will culminate with an auction of some of the area’s best chefs, who will provide the buyer with dinner for four at the chef’s restaurant or the buyer’s home. All proceeds will be used for the chapter’s scholarship fund to help local students through their studies in the culinary field. Tickets will be on sale at all participating restaurants. The Greater Connellsville Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual spring gala today at Linden Hall Mansion. The theme is “Masquerade on Bourbon Street.” Highlights will include music by The Bobby Nichols Band, wine tasting, game tables, Chinese auction and more. Seating is limited. The Masontown Volunteer Fire Department will hold its fourth annual car and truck show on Sunday. The event will be held rain or shine. Registration is $8 per vehicle and will begin at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be dash plaques and goodie bags for the first 100 vehicles registered. Each participant will be given a door prize ticket to be eligible for drawings beginning at 1 p.m. Other activites will include D.J. Mickey “D” spinning the oldies, a large Chinese auction, 50/50 tickets and food available in the fire hall. Hot air balloon rides sponsored by Parkvale Bank will be offered if the weather is permitting. The Spring Into Summer craft open house will be held today through Sunday at the home of Jamie and Chuck Kordich, 1 Kensington St., Uniontown. Jamie Kordich Floral, Amy Sue Goodwin Designs and Susie Conway’s Weathered Home and Garden D?cor coordinated the three-day event. The open house is free, refreshments will be served and visitors can enter to win door prizes. The wrap-around porch will be loaded with wooden, country, primitive, shabby-chic and traditional porch and yard handmade crafts. The Victorian home will be filled with hundreds of handmade creations made by 10 local crafters. An Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social will be held Saturday at the Uniontown Salvation Army Building parking lot from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Featured items will be hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream cones, sundaes and soda pop, all at old-fashioned prices. People may enjoy this reminiscence of the past prior to or during the May Day Parade. The public is invited to attend.

The Mountain Fellowship Center, a non-profit organization located on Route 40 in Markleysburg, will sponsor an indoor-outdoor flea market on Saturday, May 1, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The scheduled portion of the show starts at 7 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m. There is a small fee for adults, and children are admitted free. The Sagebrush Round-Up is located six miles east of Interstate 79 at Exit 139 on Bunner Ridge near Fairmont, W.Va.Come show off your car at the Sagebrush Round-Up third annual antique and classic car show from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. There is a cost to enter each car. Twenty trophies are awarded, and the first 50 cars receive plaques. Country music will be played from 6 to 11 p.m. No alcoholic beverages are permitted.
