Recipe: Blackberry mint julep
Blackberry mint julep
Yield: 2 cocktails
¼ cup fresh mint leaves
1 cup blackberries
3 tablespoons sugar
2 ounces bourbon
1 ½ cups ice cubes
2 large sprigs of fresh mint to garnish
Procedure:
1. In a small saucepot, combine the ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves, blackberries, and sugar. Cook over medium heat while stirring occasionally just until the sugar dissolves and the blackberries burst.
2. Transfer the blackberry mixture to a blender and puree until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine mesh strainer and discard the seeds.
3. Rinse and dry your blender, and then add the blackberry puree, bourbon, and ice cubes to the blender and pulse until smooth.
4. Divide the cocktail into two glasses, garnish each with a large sprig of fresh mint, and serve immediately.
