Will Superman fly at the box office in “Man of Steel” on June 14?

Hollywood is hoping he will.

The red-white-and-blue superhero could reboot the franchise and turn it into a high-flying hit.

Henry Cavill, 29, will take over in the title role that has been played by George Reeves and Dean Cain on TV and Brandon Routh and Christopher Reeve on screen. Cavill is joined by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe as Lois Lane, General Zod and Jor-El, respectively.

Zack Snyder (“300”) is directing, and Christopher Nolan (“The Dark Knight”) is producing “Man of Steel,” which the British magazine Total Film predicted will gross $700 million globally.

In the publication, Cavill talks about how his world will rock in mid-June when the epic opens.

“It will change stuff,” he said. “I’m prepared for that. It didn’t have an effect on my desire (to take the role).

“I have a responsibility to kids who believe in Superman — absolutely. It’s going to be bizarre to see yourself in a toy version. I’m excited, don’t get me wrong. But I’m being realistic about it. Ultimately I’m an actor. At the end of the day, I’m not actually Superman, and I will play other roles.”
