Saint Vincent Summer Theatre presents ” A Grand Night for Singing” an evening of music and romance, the fourth and final show of the theatre’s 46th summer season that features the songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein through Aug. 16. The State Theatre Center for the Arts Uniontown hosts Sing-a-long Grease, 4 p.m. Aug. 16. The unique, interactive show rolls lets viewers sing along to the movie musical, complete with on-screen lyrics and the chance to become a T-Bird or Pink Lady for the night and enter the costume contest to win a Film Series Package. Costumes like poodle skirts, saddle shoes, T-bird and Pink Lady jackets, chiffon scarves and skinny ties are most definitely encouraged. The Fayette County Law Library’s “August Artist of the Month” is Mark Hofmann of Connellsville, playwright. His exhibit is on display through Aug. 28. The law library is located on the second floor of the courthouse. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free.
”Out in Wonder” an exhibit of the work of Uniontown native Nance Lee Sneddon is on display at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington through Sept. 29. The Mount Pleasant Glass Museum (the former Lenox factory) is celebrating its first anniversary and the rich glass history of the region. Area students in grades seven through 12 can join the 304 Photo Club, which will meet twice monthly at Monongalia Arts Center, 101 High St., Morgantown. Meetings will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. every other Tuesday. Students taking part in the club, hosted by local photographer David Smith, will learn the basics of digital photography, lighting and composition, as well as more advanced techniques. The Frank L. Melega Art Museum announces Jon C. Crawford: “Scintillation,” a memorial exhibition of paintings and drawings by the late Jon C. The Sen. John Heinz History Center presents “Pittsburgh’s Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia” exhibit featuring more than 2,000 items recovered from the sunken paddle wheeler. Carnegie Museum of Art presents Teenie Harris Photographs: Baseball in Pittsburgh takes a look back at the history of baseball in Pittsburgh. The exhibit includes 25 of the most memorable photographs of the game and its players and never-before-seen 16mm film footage of the Negro League games at Greenlee Field and Forbes Field. The museum is located at 4400 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh. Exhibition on view through Sept. 22. Also featured is “Architecture and Photography,” an exhibit that explores relationship between the two.
Morgantown History Museum presents “Morgantown: 100 Years of Wild Blue Yondering.” The exhibit features milestones in Morgantown’s aviation history and will be on display through Sept. 20. The museum is located at 175 Kirk St. in Morgantown.
The documentary “Great White Shark” is currently featured at the Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh. The IMAX film features unique, slow-motion, underwater images and evolutionary history of the creatures which predate dinosaurs. The 40-minute film dazzles because a uniquely designed camera captured higher resolution images and slow-motion underwater footage than ever before.
