1. Marvel “Guardians of the Galaxy” (PG-13); Grade: A; with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Djimon Hounsou in the huge hit based on a little-known Marvel Comic.

2. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (PG-13); Grade: B-; with Megan Fox in an action fantasy with the half-shell heroes.

3. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (PG-13); Grade: B+; with Andy Serkis in the franchise sequel with humans being challenged by apes. It’s also available in 3-D.

4. “22 Jump Street” (R); Grade: B; with Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube returning to the second spoof of the vintage cop show.

5. “The Maze Runner” (PG-13); Grade: NP; with Dylan O’Brien and Aml Ameen in an action mystery about a teen placed in a community of boys after his memory is erased.

6. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” (PG); Grade: B+; with the animated characters in a sequel with Jay Baruchel returning as the voice of Hiccup. A 3-D version is also available.

7. “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas” (PG-13); Grade: NP; with Perry in a comedy with the title character spreading her own brand of holiday cheer.

8. “The Expendables 3” (PG-13 and Unrated); Grade: B; with Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham and other action favorites in a title about an evil arms dealer.

9. “Maleficent” (PG); Grade: A; with Angelina Jolie in the Disney re-imagining of the famous villain from “Sleeping Beauty.”

10. “The Hundred-Foot Journey” (PG); Grade: B; with Helen Mirren in a feel-good tale about a competition between French and Indian restaurants.

11. “This Is Where I Leave You” (R); Grade: B; with Tina Fey in an ensemble melodrama about a dysfunctional family.

12. “When the Game Stands Tall” (PG); Grade: NP; with Jim Caviezel and Laura Dern in a fact-based sports film about a football coach whose team experiences an incredible winning streak.

13. “The Skeleton Twins” (R); Grade: NP; with Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader in a comedy about estranged twins hoping to mend their relationship.

14. “Peter Pan Live!” (Unrated); Grade: B; with Allison Williams and Christopher Walken in the NBC musical.
