Mon Performing Arts Academy camp students present musical “Honk Jr.” at California University of Pennsylvania at 4 p.m. Aug. 2. “Honk Jr.,” with music by George Stiles and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, is a contemporary re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fable “The Ugly Duckling” adapted for young performers. The Fayette County Law Library’s “July Artists of the Month” are Marshall and Dylan Berthold of Uniontown, “Mine Craft and Origami.” Their exhibit will be on display through July 30. ”Out in Wonder” an exhibit of the work of Uniontown native Nance Lee Sneddon is on display at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington through Sept. 29. Showing new contemporary tapestry paintings as well as functional jewelry and handbag pieces all items are for sale. The Mount Pleasant Glass Museum (the former Lenox factory) is celebrating its first anniversary and the rich glass history of the region. Hands-on glass-cutting discussions with Peter O’Rourke will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov. 15. Area students in grades seven through 12 can join the 304 Photo Club, which will meet twice monthly at Monongalia Arts Center, 101 High St., Morgantown, W.Va. Meetings will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. every other Tuesday. Students taking part in the club, hosted by local photographer David Smith, will learn the basics of digital photography, lighting and composition, as well as more advanced techniques. The Frank L. Melega Art Museum announces Jon C. Crawford: “Scintillation,” a memorial exhibition of paintings and drawings by the late Jon C. The Sen. John Heinz History Center presents “Pittsburgh’s Lost Steamboat: Treasures of the Arabia” exhibit featuring more than 2,000 items recovered from the sunken paddle wheeler. Carnegie Museum of Art presents Teenie Harris Photographs: Baseball in Pittsburgh takes a look back at the history of baseball in Pittsburgh. The exhibit includes 25 of the most memorable photographs of the game and its players and never-before-seen 16mm film footage of the Negro League games at Greenlee Field and Forbes Field. The museum is located at 4400 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh. Exhibition on view through Sept. 22. Also featured is “Architecture and Photography,” an exhibit that explores relationship between the two.
Morgantown History Museum presents “Morgantown: 100 Years of Wild Blue Yondering.” The exhibit features milestones in Morgantown’s aviation history and will be on display through Sept. 20. The museum is located at 175 Kirk Street in Morgantown.
The documentary “Great White Shark” is currently featured at the Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh. The IMAX film features unique, slow-motion, underwater images and evolutionary history of the creatures which predate dinosaurs. The 40-minute film dazzles because a uniquely designed camera captured higher resolution images and slow-motion underwater footage than ever before. WVU Watts Museum’s ‘Outside the Mine’ Exhibition explores the lives of miners and their families in Appalachia’s coal towns from the late-19th to mid-20th centuries. “Outside the Mine: Daily Life in a Coal Company Camp” focuses on social and cultural aspects of the mining industry, including social time and leisure, domestic activities, religion and faith, and commerce and the company store. The exhibit is on view through July. The Watts Museum is located in Room 125 of the Mineral Resources Building on the Evansdale Campus of WVU.
