Moms Aim to be on Their Worst Behavior
What happens when you gather three overworked and exhausted moms who have been pushed to their limits? The answer is the film “Bad Moms” released on Blu-ray and DVD this week.
Amy (Mila Kunis, “Black Swan” and “Ted”) seems to have it all. A wonderful marriage, perfect children a career and a beautiful home. Sick of being constantly tired and overwhelmed, she decides to call on two other tired moms Carla (Kathryn Hahn, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “We’re the Millers”) and Kiki (Kristen Bell, “Frozen” and “Veronica Mars”) to take a break from responsibility when they end up clashing with the darling of the PTA, Gwendolyn (Christina Applegate, “Anchorman” and “Vacation”) and her gaggle of minions.
The film has received middle to positive reviews from both critics and audiences according to Rotten Tomatoes.
“A female-drive story that doesn’t shy away from bad behavior while also touting the importance of familial bonds and solid parenting choices,” is how critic Kate Erbland of indieWIRE describes the film.
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone wrote, “The movie cops out by going soft in the end, but it’s still hardcore hilarity for stressed moms looking for a girls night out.”
Metacritic.com user MGE who did not favor the film, wrote, “(‘Bad Moms’ is) a movie that emphasizes the terrible way people are raising their kids by pandering to their every need, doing their homework and creating spoiled, self-centered, helpless people.”
The film is rated R for sexual material, full frontal nudity, language throughout and drug and alcohol content.
