‘Dancing with the Stars Live!’ comes to Pittsburgh
Audience members can prepare to tango and cha-cha when “Dancing with the Stars: Live!” arrives at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall Jan. 9.
This nationwide tour will feature Season 23 professional finalists Lindsay Arnold, Sharna Burgess, Gleb Savchenko and Val Chmerkovskly, the two-time Mirrorball Champion.
The tour is based on the popular reality television show “Dancing with the Stars” that partners celebrities with a professional dancer. Each week, these duos face-off in a ballroom dance competition where one couple gets eliminated until there is only one partnership left standing.
Previous celebrity winners of the coveted “Mirrorball Trophy” include former Pittsburgh Steeler Heinz Ward, actor Alfonso Ribeiro, singer Kellie Pickler, figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno.
Joining the professionals will be “Dancing with the Stars'” newest celebrity winner, Laurie Hernandez, Rio Olympics gold and silver medalist in gymnastics.
“I am so excited to continue this amazing journey and join the Dancing with the Stars tour,” said Hernandez in a release from the tour. “I loved every minute of dancing with Val and all of the incredible dancers from ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ I can’t wait to be back on the dance floor with all of them, visiting cities across the country.”
Joining season 23 professional ballroom dancers will be Alan Bersten, Artem Chigvintsev, Haley Erbert, Jenna Johnson, Keo Motsepe and Emma Slater.
The tour will offer audiences a look at a variety of dance styles including new numbers created just for this tour.
“This all-new production showcases every type of ballroom and modern dance seen on ABC’s hit show ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ including sizzling group performances, romantic duets, contemporary numbers and original pieces created specifically for the nationwide tour,” according to the official tour website, dwtstour.com. “‘Dancing with the Stars: Live!’ Travels to 43 cities this winter beginning on Dec. 16 and running through Feb. 14.”
Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com and start at $50.
There are also three VIP packages, which range in price from $299 to $599, that offer special seating, meet and greets, beverages, exclusive Dancing with the Stars gift item and more.
