The 1980s and 90s power ballad gods of Rick Springfield and Richard Marx will combine their talents at a Pittsburgh concert for fans that have ever wanted “Jessie’s Girl” or slow danced to “Right Here Waiting.”

At 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, the duo will perform a concert that will cover their three decades of hits including full solo acoustic sets by both artists.

Springfield has sold over 25 million records, received a Grammy for his chart topping hit “Jessie’s Girl” and had 17 top-40 hits over the years including “I’ve Done Everything for You,” “Love Somebody” and “Human Touch.

Not only has he put his creative prowess behind music, he is also a published fiction author with his 2014 debut novel, “Magnificent Vibration.”

The synopsis for the book, according to Amazon.com, “After making an unexpected connection with God via a mysterious self-help book and a 1-800 number, one man embarks on an unlikely spiritual quest in this ‘remarkably creative’ (Kirkus Reviews) novel from Grammy Award-winning musician and ‘New York Times’ best selling author Rick Springfield.”

Joining Springfield on tour is Marx who additionally experienced much success with the sale of more than 30 million albums, 26 top 20 singles and 17 top 10s and has earned a Grammy for song of the year as a songwriter.

Marx experienced a lot of success with his album “Repeat Offender” that went quadruple-platinum and spawned two number one singles “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting.”

These two ballad powerhouses kicked off the second leg of their tour Jan. 18 in Palm Desert, California and will continue cross country until their final performance May 12 in Florence, South Carolina.

Reviews for the joint concert are already out and many people feel right back in love with these two 1980s heartthrobs.

Doreen, an on-air personality for MIX 107.7 in Dayton, Ohio had the opportunity to see the concert when it made a stop in her neck of the woods.

On the radio station’s website she wrote, “Both Springfield and Marx are monster performers, know how to command the stage, engage an audience and let’s face it, both are easy on the eyes. They’re also both brilliant songwriters … something I don’t think they get anywhere near the credit deserved. “

Kendra Meinert, a writer for the USA Today Network-Wisconsin, who also saw the Springfield and Marx tour, “As pairings go, theirs isn’t a stretch. Both were heartthrob hit-makers in the 1980s with enough radio hits between them to fuel individual one-hour sets and two songs together at the top of the show, Marx’s ‘Endless Sumer Nights’ and Springield’s ‘Love Somebody.'”

Tickets to the Pittsburgh performance start at $43.75.

There are also VIP meet and greet packages that include one premium seat location, a special meet and greet with Springfield and Marx and a photo opportunity with both artists for $368.75. These packages are limited.
