Canadian-based band brings vintage music to State Theatre with Fleetwood Mac Mania
Still holding the milestone of having one of the top five selling albums of all time, Fleetwood Mac is one of the most recognizable bands in music history.
In just a few weeks, audiences will have the opportunity to relive the music when cover band Fleetwood Mac Mania takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. May 10 at the State Theatre, 27 East Main Street, Uniontown.
According to their press release, each veteran player in the band brings their spirit to re-create with incredible accuracy, the look and feel of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks.
“The harmonies, instrumentation, and on-stage chemistry has impressed and captivated audiences from coast-to-coast,” it said.
Connie Scriver, who takes on the stage persona of keyboard player and vocalist Christine McVie, said the band calls Toronto, Canada, home base, and have played all over Canada and the United States.
“I started playing in a band a long time ago and got involved in playing with Fleetwood Mac tribute band back in 2000,” she said. “I really grew to love the tribute show.
“Fleetwood Mac has always made such musically rich, diverse music,” Scriver added. “It’s just so timeless and eclectic and with them having one of the top five selling albums of all time (Rumors), that really says something about their music and how it appeals to all ages.”
As her career progressed, Scriver said she always made sure she was involved on one Fleetwood Mac tribute band or another, until one day her agend asked if she would co-start a new tribute band, and that band was Fleetwood Mac Mania.
“We really have a great group,” she said of the band. “Jen Tayor does a great job as Stevie Nicks, and there’s real on-stage chemistry between her and Jeremy Stimers (who takes on the character of Lindsey Buckingham).”
Eddie Cromwell plays drums and percussion for the band and Carl Robinowitz is the bass player.
“There’s really just such great chemistry between the band, both on and off stage,” Scriver said. “We really enjoy doing the show.”
Erica Miller, executive director at the State Theatre, said the show will be brought to the theater through a promoter, and she is excited to offer this entertainment to a Uniontown audience.
“We’ve really been trying to bring new people into the theater, so by offering different shows that appeal to different age groups or entertainment tastes, we are providing an opportunity for get new patrons to cross through the doors and experience an event here,” she said.
“There are probably people who live right around here who have never been to our theater before,” Miller added. “Sometimes it just takes something different to bring them through the doors and realize that it is really fun, and maybe they’ll want to come back for another show.”
