‘Sinners’ scores big in second annual Pittsburgh Film Critics Association Awards
The Pittsburgh Film Critics Association has revealed which 2025 films received top honors in the second annual PFCA Awards.
“Sinners,” writer-director Ryan Coogler’s Southern vampire thriller, was named Best Picture by the PFCA’s 15-member voting bloc. “One Battle After Another,” writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson’s sprawling dramedy about multiple generations of American revolutionaries, finished in second place.
Rose Byrne, the star of A24’s tense and sobering “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” was named 2025’s Best Lead Actor, while “Weapons” standout Amy Madigan earned the title of Best Supporting Actor for her extremely memorable turn in writer-director Zach Cregger’s surprise horror hit. The PFCA chose to not give out gender-specific acting awards.
This year’s Good Neighbor Award-given annually to films that reflect the values and ideals of the Pittsburgh community-went to political thriller “It Was Just an Accident.” Writer-director Jafar Panahi’s film is a powerful critique of the Iranian regime. Made without the approval of Iranian authorities, it was realized through a co-production between Iran, France and Luxembourg.
