Josh Kinneer performs as the Pirate King in the Geyer Performing Arts Center production of “Pirates of Penzance.”

“Pirates of Penzance,” a comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan, is coming to the stage at Geyer Performing Arts Center for four performances, starting this evening.

The show chronicles the journey of Frederic, a pirate’s apprentice, due to be released from his service when he turns 21. He plans to be with his love, Mabel.

There’s just one hitching point: Frederic was born on Feb. 29, so technically, the leap-year baby is much younger.

How will it all be resolved?

Find out during shows at 7:30 p.m. this Thursday through Saturday, or during the 2:30 p.m. show on Sunday.

GPAC is located in Scottdale. Tickets can be purchased at geyerpac.com or at the door.
